ALTERNATIVE ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Searching for projects to study alternate energy first hand?

The Center for Alternative Fuels and Environmental Sciences (CAFES) aims to help Missouri schools and municipalities install alternative energy units for use in education, and to encourage incorporation of renewable energy education into the K-12 science curriculum and the community.  Our program aims to install wind turbines and or solar arrays at primarily Missouri schools, and to provide assistance to schools in educating their students about renewable energy including wind power, solar power, and biofuels. CAFES at the University of Central Missouri campus has an active education and outreach program concerning alternative energy and environmental science!

Upon acceptance of your memorandum of understanding with CAFES we will help you coordinate funding, installation and follow up training of your project. Not only will your facility install some alternative energy units but your classes will be invited to visit the CAFES and tour its facility where the students will learn about the science, technology and the future of alternative energy. Your school or facility can join a growing number of partners of the CAFES and UCM in pursuit of a more energy independent and sustainable Missouri.

CAFES will enter into an agreement with your school or facility to help coordinate the installation of an appropriate alternative energy system at your site with the assistance of its preferred provider. A CAFES associate will help coordinate fund raising and logistics for the project. Additional funds would be appropriate from the school or facility if available. Alternative energy training and tours at the CAFES will be free of charge and a continuing resource for the school partners. Projects will vary in expense depending on the type of system, travel expenses, engineering, and installation requirements.
